Yesterday room 22 had some visits from Tagata Pacific to come and film us.

what the Tagata Pacific wanted to ask us was what does Christmas means to us. what I was going to say was that Christmas means to me is to celebrate the day Gods son Jesus was born.

when they were going to film me I was really nervous because I was I little bit shy to be on t.v. Some of us got interviewed.

I really enjoyed them coming in our class.

about our net books

This is the first year that we have a net book at Pt England school.

we enjoyed having a net book to keep. this is the first year the year 7 & 8 took there net book home.

The interesting thing about net books is that we don't do work in books anymore and you can find much more information's on Internet. And also we don't do our home works in our books.

the thing I don't like about the net books is it can distract your learning. And you don't get to finish your work that you had to do.

I really enjoyed having a net book this year.

yesterday room 22 were learning about guy Fawkes. We had to complete a task.

I learnt that the other name for guy Fawkes is bonfire night and its celebrated on the 5th of November. In London in 1605 guy Fawkes together with a number of other Catholic men plotted to blow up the house of Parliament at its opening session on 5th November. You have to be 16 years of age and over to buy fireworks.

The Chinese were probably the first to make fireworks over 2000 years ago. they are still use in china to celebrated their New year at the beginning of November with bonfires and feasts-the Festival of Samhain.

I can't wait for fireworks night.

Monday 31st of December it Halloween My little sister couldn't wait to go and knock on peoples doors. She dressed up as a angle. But I didn't want to go but I felt sad so I went with her.

She wanted to go around mission bay were all the rich people were so she can get heaps of stuff. We went with a pumpkin to put all our treats in side. We knocked on about 20 or more doors. One old lady gave us lots and lots of chocolates I was happy so I ate all of her chocolates. We ended up with a lot of treats. we gave some to our next door.

I had a fun time going trick a treating With my little sister.

This morning Room 22 had to solve a problem. With 5 objects.

We had to get into groups of 3 . I was with Ben, Junior. Our problem was your mum has hooked a big fish off wharf , but it has pulled her fishing rod into the water. How can you get the rod back and still catch the fish. We had to be logical, creative with 5 object to solve it. Our object was a Fork, Screw driver, Light bulb, Cricket bat, safety pin.

When we finished solving the problem. We had to stand in the front of the class and show 5 of our object and read out our problem. Ben, Junior, and I didn't solved the problem so we failed. Only one team successes

It was amazing to meet some new friends and get along with the class also our wonderful teacher Mrs T. Room 22 was like to have Mrs T in our class. My favourite subject in school is writing. I don't want to live Pt England school and my teacher. I wish there was a College so I can stay.

All Blacks VS Canada

On Sunday night I couldn't wait for the All Blacks V's Canada game to come on. The first half was boring because All Blacks lost heaps of chance to get heaps of try but they give it away by losing the ball by running and not holding it tight also penalties.But not long the star player Zac Guildford got the first try for New Zealand I was really happy that I couldn't stop jumping up and down.

The begging of the 2ND half we scored try's like one after another. My best player on earth Zac Guildford scored 4 try's and it was the best try ever like most of his try was run away's. That game was amazing but I felt sad because we defected the Canada By miles. The score was 79-15.

I really enjoyed that wonderful game.

The past few weeks our class room 22 had a student teacher called Mrs Richards that came and teach ed us. We all loved her being in our class. She always sheared some amazing story of her life. Like how she shared that if one of her family past away she cant go and visit one of her friends.

When she was going to leave us we were I was sad. She cocked us some Chinese food and it was the best food that Ive tasted in my life.

My highlight for the world cup is when around my street there were heaps and heaps of people celebrating the first day of the world cup. also I was celebrating by running around my street with my New Zealand flag it was shaming because the Tonga people didn't like when I was going for the All blacks it was mostly my next door. Because they are Tonga They are cheering for Tonga

After the ceremony. The first game was All Blacks vs Tonga. It was held in Auckland at Edan park. The game was really enjoyable because how the All Blacks started the of with the Haka Also the Tonga team started with the Haka. When the All blacks kicked of my heart started to pound because the Tonga team looks like they were going to defeat the New Zealand team like nothing But I was wrong New Zealand scored the first try of the first half then I knew straight away that All blacks is going to win. The first half was almost finish and the All blacks were leading by 29-3.

The begging of the 2Nd half was amazing because Ma'a Nonu was sets some of the try for the team. They won 41-10

I felt happy when they won against Tonga.

Last week there was a Aims rugby 7s tournament. It was held in Touranga for a whole week . Our 7s team were to represent our school by competing against different schools around New Zealand.

There first game was against Cambridge. our Teacher told us that the year 8 boys were versing Cambridge school. our boys won 50-0. I was really excited That I had a big smile on my face because they won by miles.

The boys arrived back home save with the best news. couldn't wait to see them.

Team 5 challenge

On Tuesday the 23 of August. I was really existed because at school its going to be the best day. All of the senior block were waiting to go on to the bottom field to have fun. As we were walking down I can see the senior block teachers getting there game ready for us to enjoy.

Room 22’s First activity was with our amazing Teacher called Miss Tito. Her game was called sling short with balls. There are all sorts of different size of balls. When you chose a ball you then put it on the sling short and then aim for a holier hope. If you don’t know what this game is all about? This is what it means there are about 5 or 6 holler hopes flat on the ground. The blue holler hope are worth 50 points And the pink is 100 . Our class had100 points by shooting the ball in the blue hoop. Then we then move over to our 2Nd activity

Mr Harris is game that hes taking is tricky. Mr Harris’ told us we can choose our own partners. I then choose Junior to be my partner because hes very good at this game. Junior and I was the first once to play with the my other class mates . If you don't know what this game is all about? Its to tie a string around one of your partners leg and your leg also tight. The teacher that's taking the game will give you a ball, spoon,Part of the game is about balance. We had to try and balance all the away to the cones and back.

I really enjoyed that moment out on the bottom field. I hope we do this again some other time. I will like to thank all the teachers for making this day come for the seniors to have fun.

Badminton session.

Last week on Thursday morning room 22 went over to the hall to play a game called badminton. A lady called Laureen came from the Auckland badminton club. She is the coach. She came and taught some of the room 22 student how to play badminton. What is badminton? badminton Is a game similar to tennis.

Laureen taught us different ways how to serve and how to hold a racket. How do you hold a racket? How to hold a racket is to twist your arm around and put your thump at the back of the racket. We had a competition who can serve the shuttle in the bin the most. I only got it in once.

Catching the shuttle in the cone. There are suppose to be only one person with a racket the other person is holding a cone. Your feet has to be in the line to catch a shuttle. It was really easy because Raven and I did it perfectly.

I really enjoyed it. Because now I know how to play a little bit of badminton.I really cant wait for the next session of badminton.

My highlight for this term is rugby. Because we get to travel different places only if we win heaps of games. The other thing I like about rugby is when you get to verse people from other school. Also if you win the Eastern zone we go on and challenge champion of champions. Pt England school went on and challenge for the title. the schools we versed was hard. We didn't won the title we lost but we came 3rd place. I was proud of the boys.

At pt England school our topic for this term is about Bigger, Better, faster, stronger. So we Identified a need in the senior block. We decided to design some cool furniture for our street.

Our amazing Teacher told us that we can use the Internet to research for creative design. What Charm and I are working on is seating's. What we found on the Internet was marvelous designs that we can’t make. Because most of the design are made of wood that curves.

What dose generate idea mean? generate ideas means to me that you come up with cool ideas After we all research. We than generate ideas from research also to pick your favourite design that you found then Modified it .What modify means? Is to change it to make it better and to change it to make it your own. Me and my partner did heaps of modifying so our design looks creative then the others.

Finally we are on the fun pit. Why I like this step of the process is that we get to make a prototype. The people that don't know what prototype means?. Its the first step of your model.

I've really enjoyed the past few weeks of doing the design process. I hope we get to do this in the future.

On Wednesday before morning tea room 22 had to go down to the courts in 2 lines because a man called Sio Siua Taukeiaho that plays for the vodafone junior warriors squad was going to teach us some rugby league skills.

The first drill that we had to do was called zigzag around the cones. When you get to the last cone then sprint back and pop the ball to your other runner and they have to zigzag around the cones. The first team to sit back down in a line when everyone has a turn wins a point for there team.

Our 2ND drill was the same as the 1st drill but now its people not cones in a line. You have to zigzag around them then when you get to the end you have to sprint back and place the ball between two cones. My team was the first team to get a point but we just lost to the other team by one.

Finally on our last session of the day the game was similar to focus back but when you kick the ball it has to be above your shoulders if it doesn't then the person that kick the ball is out. the other thing is when you kick the ball and the other one is trying to catch it if they drop it they are out to. I'm always the last person to get out because I know were to kick. My team won most the time but we lost.

I really enjoyed it I hope the come some other time to teach us some more skills.

science roadshow

Thursday morning the 9Th of June room 22 and the senior block went down to the science roadshow at Tamaki College. Why we went down to the science roadshow because it was part of our topic at Pt England school.

The thing what I was really enjoying was when they showed all the chemicals like gasoline I was surprised when they mixed the gasoline with fire.

There were cards that they gave out to people to complete in only if you want to you don't have to if you name gets drawn out you will win a prize. It was in the box. What the challenge was to go around and find out information there are questions on the card that you had to go and look for it was pretty easy but some was hard when you find the question for it you have to find miss V to tick it I finally finished my card in 2 minutes.

Then the scientist's called us to come and sit back down I was the last one to go sit down because I was busy still playing on the equipments what they want to show us was the important things. also showed us about our science
such as our touch, smell, sound , eyes. taste.

What I really enjoyed about that day was the best day I had this year at the moment I hope we go there again this year or next year.

SIGN REFLECTION

What is my sign made of? Its made of these things. Metal I will find metal on the side of the road, crews I will get crews from my house, paint brush Ill use our class paint and brush.

My sign will be very easy for everyone to see and to understand because if its not practical everyone won’t chuck it in the bin.

What I will change my design if my design will not turn out good on the pole in our school grounds. I will try and put it on every bay on the wall, and in the front of our school were visits and people from different schools enter our school. Also they will know and remember to don’t be a litter bug. They will love my design.

Swimming

The past two weeks every day during lunch time room 22 and the team 5 went down to the Glen Innes pools to learn how to swim.

Why swimming lessons are important ? because if your in the sea and you don’t know how to swim it will be very dangers such as drowning.

What being learning at the pools is how to swim. the first thing we did was fingers what fingers mean is when you drag you fingers out on the water. also we did 850 meters with out stopping.

It was really hard because we couldn't’t stand up and stop. I am looking foward to swim next year because its really important to learn to swim.

Every day after lunch time we get separated into different maths classes. I go to room 22 Miss T is the teacher in room 22. I like to study shapes and measuring stuff.

In room 22 we been learning about design process.There are 6 different steps. step 1 identify a need are?please no lettering in the school grounds,step 2 research find images, step 3 generate ideas find shapes, colours, step 4 find solutions, step 5 reflect, last step 6 evaluate.

Room 22 is now on step 3. Why is generating ideas important? I think generate ideas are important because if one of your ideas don’t work these always a couple of ideas left to use.

What I will use for my sign around Pt England school. Its going to say please do not letter. these are the thing I will use to make my sign. metal, paint red white green, screws and different shapes.

I am really looking forward to make a sign saying no lettering.

Every Friday this term the year 7&8 students attended Taonga time. Each teacher has a different passion for example my teacher is very passionate about Kapa Haka. If you don’t know what Taonga means it means treasure in Maori.

There are different Taonga time groups like Kapa Haka, Technology, Sports, Music,Team building, Art, ICT, Maori and Science. The group I am in is called Kapa Haka. If you don’t know what Kapa Haka is its something special to the Maori. What we do though this whole year is perform in the front of Pt England school and also in Museum.

I am very glad to be in the Kapa Haka group because I like to learn a little about Maori. I am enjoying Kapa Haka this year.

After lunch time on Thursday room 22 went out on the courts to play netball. Emma is from the Auckland netball club, she was teaching us some skills.

What I learned from that day was how to chest pass to your friend. The other thing she taught us was when you’re receiving the ball you have to do ice cream. What ice cream means is when you do two steps. You should stop on your 2nd step then you will received the ball.

We had free time to play corner ball. How do you play corner ball? its similar to netball but you don't shoot the ball in the hoop. The team has each corner to try to score a goal. There are suppose to be only one person in each corner. I really liked my team because our team was fast and we had more boys then girls.

I really enjoyed learning how to play net ball I'm looking froward to learn some more skills next week on Thursday.

Pleased: homework

The things I was pleased with last term was my homework .I was happy with my report because I received good results in my work habits, behaviour and academic progress .I felt really happy because I always completed in my homework and that’s why I’m proud of myself.

This term the subject I want to improve is my writing because I know I can do better but I need to focus more. I want to be a better writer.

My highlight for last term was my behaviour. I felt good about last term because I received good comments about my behaviour. But I’m not so happy with my work habits because I have trouble managing my time and focusing more on what I'm doing in class.

All Giant cockroaches live in Australia out back they are 3 long. In the front of the cockroach its got a lip it means its a boy also in the front of there heard they can digger and. Giant cockroach live up to ten years. The mother cockroach gives birth to the young cockroaches when they are born insterd of laying eggs. The only time they came out of there borrous when its raining and they came out they can get cooked up also they came out to meet and to move on.

at camp we had heaps of activity to do the first day we went to wakama we got to go on a waka and we had to race we only won two games but we didn't care if we lost because we went to eat the when we finished eating we got on the bus and came back to school when we got here we went to the pools and had a good swim and have a shower and went back to school to have our dinner and the best day was we had rock up to came to our school the best game I've played was danker my first shoot i got one Bronson out then it was my turn i was very scared but it took them seven balls to get me out when i went in the water it was very gold like i was living in a frozen ice its was cold and that was my best activity in my hole live. i hope you liked camp as well.

Cross Country Race

When I was at the start line my heart was pounding waiting for Mr Burt's clappers to bang. Then we were powering ahead with a burst of speed. When I was running my legs were getting weaker. When I got past the gate then it was muddy so because my legs were stuck inside it took a long time to get it out. Finally I got to the toilets at the reserve. I stopped and had a rest for two minutes then started to run again. When I got to the last gate I busted my hardest to came 3rd but I just came 4th place .But I was still so happy that I bet my place last year.

The name Velociraptor comes from the place where it was found. It lived in China in between 80 and 77 million years ago. Velociraptor was a Bird hipped dinosaur. and it walked on 2 legs. Its tail stuck straight to balance while he is running. And its had long back legs with powerful muscle so it will be faster. His short claws were used mainly for gripping prey. Its feathers makes them warm and its height up to 15 meteres tall his wight is about 15 kilograms. Veliciraptor lived in the late Cretaceaus prid about 80 million years ago. were he cames from is Central asia. It lived mainly in the desert. On Friday it was Dino day I was in letter F and we went to room 8 and what we did was to make a background on a piece of paper. Then we need to colour it in then when we finished we need to chose a dinosaur to stick it on your background. Then hang it on the beige. After the bail rang so we need to class for morning tea at class .After we need to go back to the hall to know which class are you going to go next I went to room 12 and we were dancing and the girl went to room 13 then we with the girls how ever wins gets a pries.And the boys won Pries. then the bill rang then we need to go class again. when we finished we went to Mr Palmer and when we got there we need to draw a picture and it was fun with Mr Palmer then the bill rang it was home time and I was very hot and tired.

Tyrannosaurus Rex

Tyrannosaurus Rex lived 70 million years ago in the late cretaceous.

Young T-Rex wanted her mum to bring them food.

Razor teeth is going to have his meal.

And he had big feet to run to catch his yummy prey.

Nothing can kill the T-Rex.

No dinosaur is as strong or as vicious as a T-Rex

Other dinosaurs feel scared of him.

Sharp claws like carving knives.

On Sunday its was mothers day. On mothers day my mum and dad and i went to Church after Church we went home to get changed then my whole family went to valentines its was cool because we were playing on the games i won same lollies and i won a teddybearthen we went to eat the food its was yummy after when we finished my cousin and i went out and walked on the long step it took me long time to get up so we ran down bat it was fun .Then other cousin come. This term we are learning about Dino might and what I was learning about was a T-Rex we were learning about T-Rex. we found out that T-Rex is a meat eater and also it had sharp teeth like carving knife and it lived in late Cretaceous era and T-Rex had a tail to balance when he is running after it prey.

When it was the holidays it was my cousin's funeral so we went to Samoa. It was cool because on Sunday night we went out to have dinner at my aunty's house. It was fantastic because my aunt cooks nice food on Sundays. After dinner the kids go upstairs to have fun with the other kids on their games. I had heaps of fun playing on my cousin's transformer and I played on his PS2. We played his best game which was Smack Down vs Raw 2009.

I slept at my cousin's then in the morningwe went to the beach to have fun. We played volleyball on the sand and my team won sometimes.

We also had lunch on the beach. After lunch we went for a swim. We played rugby in the water too. I always got dumped into the sea. It was cool in the water and it was cool because we had something to eat.

It was fun playing with my cousins in Samoa, But it was sad as well because it was my cousin's funeral.
